Recombinant human CCL23 25-99 is expressed in E. coli, refolded and purified to yield the truncated protein that results from additional processing after secretion of the mature 99 residue polypeptide from cells. Human CCL23, also designated CK-beta-8, Macrophage inflammatory protein 3 (MIP-3), Myeloid progenitor inhibitory factor 1 (MPIF-1) and small-inducible cytokine A23, attracts monocytes, resting T-lymphocytes, and neutrophils through activation of the G protein-coupled receptor CCR1. Alternative splicing results in a second isoform 116 amino acids in length. CCL23 25-99 is reportedly more potent than the full-length 99 amino acid version.
