Recombinant human CXCL2 is expressed in E. coli, refolded and purified to yield the mature protein that is secreted from cells after cleavage of the signal peptide. Human CXCL2 is a 73 amino acid, ELR+ chemokine that belongs to the GRO isoform subset which activates the G protein-coupled receptors CXCR2. LPS-stimulated macrophages strongly express CXCL2 in addition to the constitutive expression by macrophages. CXCL1 is a potent chemoattractant for neutrophils and hematopoietic stem cells and an activator of basophils.
